BK Report: Blue Devils on roll

Three Escambia County players scored in double figures to help lead the Blue Devils to a 58-34 victory over St. Luke’s on Monday.

Lue Williams led with 13 points, Allen Patterson had 12 and Virgil Peoples chipped in 10 points.

With the win, ECHS improves to 6-0 on the season, and visits Flomaton tomorrow night.

In other basketball action, the Blue Devils defeated T.R. Miller 70-23 to win the county basketball tournament on Dec. 8.

Dimitri Wiggins and Williams lead the Blue Devils with 11 points each; Malik Brown chipped in 10 points; and Allen Patterson added nine points.

Williams was named the most valuable player of the tournament. Peoples and Patterson were named to the all-tournament team.

In other tournament action, ECHS beat Flomaton 72-42 on Dec. 7.

Williams led with 14 points; Demetrion Barnes had 12; and Peoples had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

On Dec. 4, Williams, Brown and Jordaun Patterson scored in double figures to help lead the Blue Devils to a 64-62 victory over Vigor at home.

Williams led with 27 points, and Patterson and Brown had 12 each. Williams added 10 rebounds in the win.

With 1:31 left in the contest, ECHS scored seven much-needed points and got a defensive stop in the win.

Patterson drained a 3-pointer, and Brown attacked the baseline twice for easy buckets. Allen Patterson made a free throw, his only free shot of the night, to end the surge.

Vigor bounced back in the third period after the Wolves trailed by 10 at the break. Barnes chipped in with six points; and A. Patterson had four points for ECHS.

In other area basketball action, Escambia Academy defeated Patrician Academy 54-51 on Dec. 10.

Tiquale Taylor led EA with 21 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals; James Williams had eight points and nine rebounds with a block; Bryant Quimby had eight points and four rebounds and three assists; and Ty’rese Smith had nine points and three rebounds in the effort.

The Cougars forced 15 turnovers over the Saints.

Last week, EA defeated Marengo 55-51 on Dec. 7, and Snook 72-33 on Dec. 4.

Tiquale Taylor led the Cougars with 28 points against MA, and Bryant Quimby chipped in 17.

Against Snook, Taylor had 17 points, and T.J. Riley added 15 points.

On Dec. 3, EA defeated Jackson Academy 70-42. EA led 31-19 at halftime.

Northview’s girls defeated Laurel Hill 38-34. Heather Knowles led the Lady Chiefs with 15 points. Katlin Gafford chipped in nine, and Rylee Huskey added eight points.
