A Michigan man with a Troy address was arrested Dec. 13 in Atmore for being a fugitive from justice, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said LaQuavious Javonta Pennington, 24, called the APD for assistance because his landlord he was renting property from on Liberty Street had changed the locks.

“He wanted to get his stuff out of the building,” Brooks said. “While they were there, the landlord showed up and get got his stuff. In the process, when the officer ran his information, a warrant out of Michigan showed up.”

Brooks said Pennington’s charges out of Alabama are fugitive from justice, but the warrant out of Michigan said coercion.

Brooks said the charge looks like some type of sex offense, and added that his address is listed as of Dunbar Drive in Troy.

Brooks said he didn’t know if Pennington has been extradited back to Michigan yet, but added that a hearing should’ve already been completed.
