Escambia Academy lost two games during the Fort Dale Tournament in Greenville last weekend.

The Cougars lost 40-37 to the tournament host on Saturday, and 70-54 to Lee-Scott Academy on Friday.

EA basketball coach James Smith said the boys didn’t play with much discipline against LSA.

Tiquale Taylor led EA with 35 points, and Bryant Quimby contributed with nine.

“Everything we worked on during the week went out the window,” Smith said. “They had quite a few mental lapses, and it cost us.”

During the game against FDA, Smith said the Cougars had opportunities to win, but mistakes were made late.

“It serves as a learning lesson,” he said. “We are going to build and get better from it as we head into (tomorrow’s) game against Jay (Fla.).”
