A new year is upon us, tell us your story

Every week when getting the newspaper ready for our readers, one thing always happens — the date and edition number changes.
A New Year is upon us as New Year’s Day will take place next Tuesday.
Now, I’m sure most have already filled out their New Year’s resolution lists. I, actually haven’t, but have been thinking about some for the newspaper.
Constantly, I’m always thinking of new ways to bring editorial content to our subscribers and online audience.
Will that make a good story?
That’s a question I often ask myself quite a lot on a daily and weekly basis.
This next year, I’m going to try my best and find those stories that haven’t been told, those stories that have been waiting to be dusted off and shined anew.
They’re out there, and waiting.
Most of our news tips come by way of phone call or email.
For example, last week, an Atmore resident called the newspaper to let us know that their daughter was returning home from serving five months at Fort Lee in Virginia. She was going to surprise her daughter who is a student at Rachel Patterson Elementary School.
That was a good, heart-warming story to go cover, and I was thankful for the resident, Christine Lee, who called us up.
Now, I say that to say let us know what stories there are out there we haven’t even scratched the surface on. We want to know.
When a tip will be made, I’ll take it and ask myself, “Will that make a good story?”
And then, from there who knows, it may make the front page.
Send us your story ideas. We are going to look at them.
The best way to get in touch with us is through the newsroom’s email. Our email is newsroom@atmoreadvance.com.
