The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s 73rd annual meeting and gala is set for Fri., Feb. 8, at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel, according to a news release.

“This year the chamber is thrilled to share some exciting changes to the annual meeting of years past,” Executive Director Emily Spurlock Wilson said in the release. “Last year brought tremendous growth not only to the Atmore business community, but to the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce as well. In consideration of that growth and in combination with event feedback from members and corporate partners alike, we are proud to announce this year’s event will be held at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel.”

The gala will begin with a social hour and silent auction at 6 p.m. The dinner, meeting and presentation of awards will follow at 7 p.m. Upon the conclusion of the meeting, all attendees are invited to celebrate, enjoy the music and dance the night away for the remainder of the evening.

The chamber is again sponsoring a split-the-pot drawing. This year, however, the chamber is selling unlimited tickets at only $20 for the split the pot drawing. The drawing will be held the night of the gala.

Wilson said the chamber is thankful to Ann Gordon or Atmore Realty and owner of The Club, along with South Alabama Vending and Pepsi Bottling Co. of Atmore for their dedication and commitment during past annual meetings.

Over the 73-year history of the annual meeting and chamber banquet, there are countless vendors who have participated, selflessly dedicating their time and talents to ensure every year has been better than the last, Wilson said in the release.

“We are so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you for all your efforts,” she said. “We hope this year you are able to come and enjoy the celebration truly taking in the spirit of the evening.”

The deadline for nominations for Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and the Business of the Year Award is Thurs., Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. Nominations may be mailed to 137 N. Main St., Atmore, or emailed to director@atmorechamber.com. The winners will be announced at the gala.

The Citizen of the Year award is designed to recognize an individual’s outstanding achievements and/or contributions to the community.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, established by the Chamber in 1996, recognizes citizens whose contributions over a lifetime have helped to positively shape the community. This award is presented at the discretion of the selection committee and is not necessarily given annually.
