ALEA warns of phone scam

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced tonight that a scam involving callers claiming to be ALEA officers with warrants for an individual’s arrest unless the individual provides credit card information, according to a release.
“ALEA does not conduct business in such a manner, email copies of warrants or solicit credit card numbers or other personal details by phone in lieu of arrest,” officials said in a release.
Members of the public are encouraged to report similar calls to their local law enforcement agencies.
