Warrant leads to arrests

APD, ECSO (Fla.), DEA execute search at a residence on Harris Street April 15

A multijurisdictional investigation led to an Atmore man being arrested for receiving stolen property and drug charges on April 15, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said in a release that investigators with the APD, Alabama Drug Enforcement and Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on 69 Harris St., Atmore, at 6:53 a.m. on Monday.

Brooks said that Jylyn Kevon Cooper, 18, of Atmore, was arrested at the scene and charged with receiving stolen property IV, receiving stolen property II, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brooks added that a juvenile, age 17, was also charged with receiving stolen property III. Then names of juveniles can’t be released under state law.

Brooks said law enforcement located stolen firearms, narcotics and other items that were seized and taken into evidence.

Brooks said the case involved investigators from the APD, ECSO and Alabama Drug Enforcement due to ongoing investigations tied to both jurisdictions.
