The Escambia County Schools Board of Education approved personnel recommendations at a meeting on April 22 in Brewton.

The following personnel recommendations were made by category:

Retirement

• Terri Parkinson, as a secretary and bookkeeper at Flomaton High School, effective June 1, 2019;

• Alice Hall, as a seven-hour custodian at Huxford Elementary, effective July 1, 2019;

• Connie Walker, as a seven-hour custodian at HES, effective July 1, 2019;

• Brenda Taylor, as an elementary teacher at W.S. Neal Elementary, effective June 1, 2019;

• Sally Denton, as a pre-K teacher at WSNES, effective June 1, 2019;

• Lois Miller, as a math teacher at W.S. Neal Middle, effective June 1, 2019;

• Gail Miller, as a bus driver at Brewton Bus Shop, effective June 1, 2019;

Employment

• Angela Lee, as a teacher at Escambia County Middle School, effective Aug. 5, 2019;

• Ashley Trawick, as a counselor at Escambia County High School, to work up to an additional 20 days, effective June 17, 2019, through July 31, 2019, at her daily rate by Title I funds;

• Randall Jackson, as an assistant principal at ECHS, to work up to an additional 20 days, effective June 5, 2019 through July 31, 2019, at his daily rate by Title I funds;

• Jennifer Hall, as a counselor at Pollard McCall Junior High School, to work up to an additional 10 days, effective June 3, 2019 through July 31, 2019, to be paid at her daily rate by Title I funds;

• Summer maintenance custodians — Tykee Stots and Brandon Stophel, ECHS; James Williams, ECMS; Jill Byrd and Yvonne Gillam, FHS; Rufus White, PMJHS; Jason Thomas, WSNMS; Kathy Steadham, Turtle Point Science Center;

• Student summer workers — Breanna McGowan and Revontae’ McMillan, ECHS; Calvin Stots, ECMS; Deverick Williams, FES; Devonta Bradley and Chandler Hagan, FHS; Rebecca Dyess, WSNMS; and Williams Bradley, Atmore Bus Shop;

Temporary employment

• June Kent, as a temporary/part time teacher, IEP evaluator at ECHS, HES and Rachel Patterson Elementary School, effective April 11, 2019;

• Fankie Samuel, temporary/part time teacher, IEP evaluator at ECHS, HES and RPES, effective April 22, 2019; and,

Non-renewal

• Approval of non-renewal and or transfers of personnel for the 2019-20 school year.

In other business, the board:

• approve the revision of board police 3.20.05 for the procurement policy increasing the simplified acquisition threshold from $150,000 to $250,000 for federal programs;

• approved the revised cheerleader constitution effective for the 2019-2020 school year;

• approved for WSNMS to hold a field trip to Washington, D.C. April 30, 2020 through May 3, 2020. The trip will be an enrichment trip for seventh and eighth grade students. Criteria, cost and guidelines for participation will be established and communicated to students and parents;

• approved the 2019-2020 code of student conduct; and,

• approved the purchase of a vehicle from the Alabama State Bid List for the superintendent from Donohoo Chevrolet in the amount of $42,262.65.
