Day of Prayer slated for May 2

Community and church leaders will gather together for the annual National Day of Prayer on Thurs., May 2, at Escambia County High School’s Cornell Torrence Gymnasium.

The 68th annual recognition, which starts at 5:30 p.m., day theme is love one another.

The local national day of prayer activities include beginning at city hall at 10 a.m. for praying on site with insight; gathering at the Veterans Memorial for prayer that represents the military; and praying for government officials and all first responders at city hall.

The community prayer service at ECHS will be held in the gym. The bible reading will begin at 6:15 p.m. Scriptures will be given out this year to all local churches in advance that have signed up to read. The children’s prayer service will be held from 5:30-6:45 p.m. for those in kindergarten through sixth grade. Miss Flippy Toe will be a part of the event.
