Two Atmore residents were injured in a two-vehicle wreck May 17 at the intersection of Jack Springs Road and Smith Dairy Road, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
ALEA’s Judy Williams said in a release that Robert A. Bonie Jr., the driver, and Janice C. Boone, the passenger on a 2009 Honda motorcycle, were traveling north on County Road 1 (Jack Springs Road), and a second car, a 2008 Kia, which was driven by Lakenda Mitchell, was traveling south on Jack Springs Road.
Williams said Bonie swerved to avoid a vehicle, overcorrected and lost control. She said the motorcycle struck the Kia and overturned.
Williams said both units came to a final rest, and added that a witness said that a white vehicle (Kia) was at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the motorcycle.
“They also stated that’s when the driver lost control of the motorcycle,” she said.
Both Bonie and Boone were transported by LifeFlight to area hospitals for treatment.
ALEA continues to investigate the crash.
