An inmate was fatally assaulted at Fountain Correctional Facility just outside Atmore on June 15, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Public Information Officer Bob Horton said prison officials responded to the assault at approximately 5:15 p.m., where “correctional officers found Jeremy Reshad Bailey, 29, inside a facility housing area suffering from a stab wound.”
“Bailey was taken to an area hospital but later succumbed to his injury,” Horton said in a release.
