Joyce Mae Busenlehner Bolden, 83, of Atmore, was taken by her angels to be with God on June 20, 2019.
Joyce was at home surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born on Nov. 6, 1935, to Clarence and Kathryne Busenlehner in Birmingham.
Joyce married the love of her life, Raymond Bolden, on April 15, 1955.
Joyce was active in the Atmore community and was instrumental in getting the current Atmore Public Library built.
Joyce served as the director of the library for many years.
Joyce had many interests and hobbies, but her greatest joy was serving God by helping others.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Raymond; her children, Randy, Debbie, Cindy, Amy; her four-legged daughter, “Nacho;” her brothers, Clarence (Faye), Walter (Cottie) and Johnnie (Susan) Busenlehner; her sister, Carolyn Morris; and her loving nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Joyce was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Smith.
On behalf of Joyce, the family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and generosity. Keeping with her giving spirit, Joyce chose many years ago to donate her body to Genesis, the Medical Education and Research Institute located in Memphis, Tenn.
A funeral mass to celebrate her life was held at Saint Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Atmore on June 22, 2019.
Visitation was in the church hall with the service following.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of Joyce’s favorite charities.
