The Atmore City Council approved the purchase of a truck from the Alabama Department of Transportation’s equipment bureau at its meeting Monday.

The vehicle was purchased to replace a current truck in use with the city.

In other business, the council:

• approved the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce’s request to hold a youth event at Rivercane Park. Executive Director Emily Wilson said the event will be held on Aug. 24, starting at 7 p.m., and will be a picnic-style send off to the summer. She said the Tip Tops of Mobile will play at the event, which will be a different kind of event the city has ever had; and,
• approved the Family Dollar on Church Street’s application for beer and table wine.
