BOE approves weighted GPA for system; personnel recommendations

The Escambia County Board of Education approved the addition of weighted grade point averages system wide and personnel recommendations during its meeting on July 25.

“A weighted GPA is important for when our students apply for state and federal scholarships so that our students can compete with students from other schools that do have a weighted GPA,” Superintendent John Knott said. “We want to make sure our students have the same advantages as other students in the state and country.”

The following personnel recommendations were approved during the meeting:

Resignation

  • Miranda Allgood, instructional teacher aide, at Flomaton Elementary School, effective July 23, 2019;
  • Nakiedra Johnson, LPN/special education instructional aide, at Flomaton High School, effective July 24, 2019;
  • Amber Waters, kindergarten teacher, at Huxford Elementary School, effective July 12, 2019;
