City council adopts weed, grass nuisance resolution for properties

The Atmore City Council adopted a resolution declaring that 29 pieces of property within city limits violated the weed and grass nuisance ordinance.

The resolution, 2019-11, allows the city to place signs on the properties and to send notices to the property owners.

The list of properties includes:

  • 143 Carver Ave.
  • 231 Carver Ave.
  • 202 Greer Ave.
  • 111 Harris St.
  • 115 Harris St.

  • 301 Howard St.
  • 16 Liberty St. (3)
  • 39 Liberty St.
  • 41 Liberty St.
  • 174 Liberty St.
  • 83 Martin St.
  • 163 Maxwell St.
  • 610 Perch St.
  • 0 Rockaway Creek Rd.
  • 1415 Rockaway Creek Rd.
  • 407 S. Presley St.
  • 1126 S. Presley St.
  • 154 Trout St.

In other business, the council:

  • approved the Women of Distinction’s breast cancer walk, set for Oct. 19, starting at city hall and ending at Houston Avery Park;
  • approved Christmas in the Park at Houston Avery Park;
  • approved the reappointment of Anthony Marshall to the library board;
  • adopted resolution 2019-10, giving West Escambia Utilities the ability to sell appliances in their new building once built;
  • adopted resolution 2019-12, which gives the city approval to buy a dump truck from the state; and,
  • approved the letting of bids for a tractor and bush hog.
