The asphalt is down, and the stripes have been painted.
After approximately a month, the parking lot along Trammell Street that caters to Gather, the Strand Theatre, Carl’s Tot Shop, Escambia Drug Store, We Care and the Atmore News, is complete.
Mayor Jim Staff said in a telephone interview Monday that the parking lot was paid for by local funds.
“That came out of local funds,” Staff said. “We didn’t get any help from anybody.”
Atmore’s TripTek Construction LLC resurfaced and striped the parking lot, Staff said.
“They did a fantastic job,” he said. “They’re so easy to work with. They did everything perfect.”
Staff said the resurfacing and striping needed completing as the old pavement was worn down so much that water was threatening to run into the stores around the circumference of the lot.
“They drained everything to the street so it didn’t go to the stores,” he said.
