Presbyterian Christian tops Escambia Academy 21-20 in OT

Escambia Academy fell 21-20 in a close overtime contest to Presbyterian Christian Friday night in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Cougars tied the game with approximately 3 minutes to go in the fourth quarter on a Landon Sims 4-yard rush. Presbyterian scored earlier in the fourth to make it 14-7.
Earlier in the game, EA evened the score just before halftime on a Sims 2-yard sneak. PC drew first blood in the opening period to take an early lead.
The Cougars will have the next two weeks to get ready for their next opponent, Tuscaloosa Academy, on Sept. 6.
EA head football coach Hugh Fountain said the players made little mistakes, but mistakes that can be fixed.
He said turnovers and failing to capitalize on opportunities will be fixed before the TA game at home in Canoe.
Fountain said the team will shore up small mistakes before EA’s next game.
Fountain said he was pleased with the team’s effort, in spite of the loss.
In overtime, EA scored first on a 20-yard pass to Tiquale Taylor from Sims. The extra point was no good.
PC notched the win with another score and the point after touchdown.
