Mr. James “Pops” Harrelson, 72, passed away on Fri., Oct. 11, 2019, in Perdido.

Mr. Harrelson was a native of Brooks and had resided in Atmore for the past 50 years. He attended the New Hope Community Church.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Carpenter; son, Robert Flowers; granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Pace; wife, Dottie Boutwell; parents, Leonard and Eva Harrelson; and numerous brothers, and sisters.

He is survived by his two sons, Malcolm (Cheryl) Harrelson of Perdido and Mikey (Shauna) Harrelson of Atmore; two daughters, Diane Boatwright of Perdido and Susie (Ronnie) Paul of Lottie; nine step-children, Janice Styron, Jean (Russell) McGhee, Angelia (Roy) Mosley, Joyce (Glen) McIlwain, Shonda (Eric) Strehl, Donnie Smith, James (Brandy), Jerry (Kim) Smith and Donna Haskew; one sister, Ella Mae McCarter of McKenzie; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Oct. 13, 2019 at the New Hope Community Church with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson and Bro. J.P. Lambeth officiating.

Burial followed at the Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Visitation was held Oct. 13 at the New Hope Community Church.

Pallbearers were Shawn Boutwell, Brandon McNeil, Cody McNeil, Michael Harrelson, Anthony Harrelson and Myles Harrelson.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Kindred Hospice and nurse, Ashley, Glen McIlwain, New Hope Community Church and the community of Perdido for there love and support.
