Emergency management officials said in a release this afternoon that potential tropical cyclone 16 has the expected track shifted more to the east than earlier forecasts.

Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said the forecasted shift is from an update by the National Weather Service in Mobile.

“This means that the threat of impacts to Escambia County, Alabama has lessened somewhat,” Adams said. “We should see some breezy and rainy conditions increase late Friday evening and into Friday night. Conditions should improve through the morning Saturday. Severe conditions or tropical storm force winds are not expected in Escambia County with this system.”
