Atmore fire officials lifted the burn ban within the city limits because of the recent rains.
From Oct. 21-28, the city of Atmore got 1-2 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Chief Ronald Peebles lifted the ban on Monday, but reminded residents of the city ordinance, which regulates the burning of weeds, trash, etc.
Ordinance 20-5 says, “It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully or negligently set fire to grass, weeds or other combustible vegetation growing in the city or to trash, rubbish or debris, except when the same shall be contained within metal containers capable of preventing the throwing of sparks onto or the spreading of fire to any adjacent combustible materials or except when placed in trash piles which are at least 100 feet from a building, structure, fence or other combustible material or object.”
