First cancelation in 43 years
Law Day, slated to be held this May, has been canceled, according to officials.
Attorney Charles Godwin announced the cancelation today.
“Since Alabama schools are cancled for the current year (because of the COVID-19 pandemic), we will be unable to have our Law Day Program this year,” he said. “This is the first time in 43 years that our Law Day Celebration has been canceled.”
The annual Law Day allows high school seniors in Escambia County, Ala. to learn about the judicial process. A jury pool is selected and the seniors decide on an acutal case.
The next Law Day will be held May 6-7, 2021.
