Mr. Grady J. Slay, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, in Mobile. 

Mr. Slay was a native of Stockton, former resident of Lottie and had resided in Atmore for the past 30 years.

He was a helper at the Atmore Senior Center, retired maintenance worker with the Atmore Community Hospital, retired technical sergeant with the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service, a veteran of the Vietnam conflict and a member of the Robinsonville Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mattie Slay. 

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Kathy Slay of Canoe; three step-children, Robert J. (Shelley) Odom Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., Michelle Aaron of Pensacola and Deborah (Brock) Houghton of Hampstead, N.C.; one sister, Geneva (Willie) Wearren of Atmore; niece, Jammie (Wayne) Hickerson of Gulf Shores; step-grandchildren, Jessica Odom, Kayla Odom and Brianna Aaron, all of Pensacola, Blake Houghton of Hampstead and Brody Houghton of Hampstead; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held this Friday, May 22, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be held this Friday, May 22 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be Gary Singleton, Willie Wearren, Fred Aaron, Bobby Lanier, Earl Bodiford and Doug Purvis. 

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC of Atmore is in charge of all arrangements.
