Lassiter announces candidacy for city council seat

Shawn Lassiter announced his candidacy for the District 4 seat of the Atmore City Council on Monday.

Lassiter is the son of the late Billy and Faye Lassiter, and has lived in Atmore for 49 years. Thirty of those years has been in District 4.

Lassiter has been married to Hope for 24 years, and the couple has two children, Natalie and Sydnie.

He garduated from Escambia County High School in 1989, and then graduated from Jefferson Davis Community College in 1992 with an associate’s degree.

After graduating, he went off shore as a consultant for marine logistics/vessel sharring in the oil and gas industry.

Since 1999, Lassiter has continued to be in logistics. In 2009, he became in employed with Gulf Transport.

“As general manager of Gulf Transport for 11 years and my tenure on the zoning board, my professional experience has provided me with skills necessary to help the people of Atmore,” Lassiter said. “Atmore has been good to me and my family. I want Atmore to continue to prosper and move forward.”
