Margaret Marilyn Caraway, 82, wife of Cecil Edward Ellis, passed peacefully in her sleep on Tues., July 28, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.
Born on June 29, 1938, in Atmore, Marilyn was the daughter of Mable Hogan and the late James Orville Caraway.
Marilyn finished school at Escambia County High School in Atmore in 1956. She spent her life raising her four children, and caring for her loving husband. With her servant’s heart, she spent years singing in the choir and teaching children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. She lived a life that radiated her love for the Lord. She put the needs of others above her own and could always put a smile on anyone’s face, whether a friend or stranger. To know her was to love her, something that her magnetic charm and quick wit made easy to do.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil, of Atmore; her mother, Mable of Atmore; her two sons and two daughters, Kathy Trawick and her husband, Tony of Lakeland, Fla., Rob Ellis and his wife, Sonya of Atmore, David Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jill Tatum and her husband, Lance of Montgomery. She was “Nana” to seven grandchildren, Ryan Trawick and his wife, Kelley, Brittany Trawick, Rachel Ellis Lindell and her husband, Rob, Blake and Zachary Ellis, and Zoe and Thad Tatum. She had two great-grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Lindell. She is also survived by her brother, William “Bill” Caraway and his wife, Becky of Mobile; and sister, Mary Beth Hogan Keith and her husband, David, of Millbrook.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Melba Caraway.
Her life will be celebrated at a private, graveside service at Serenity Gardens in Atmore.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to your local animal shelter, as a tribute to her love for animals.
