Atmore Recycling is on Highway 31, where Mills Fence Co. used to be located.

Owners Matt and Kristi Crosby of Molino, Fla., established the new Atmore business some two months ago.

“He (Matt) liked the area up here, and pretty much that was it,” Kristi said. “He just liked the community.”

Kristi said Atmore Recycling takes in all sorts of metal from peddlers (public at large) and bigger accounts.

“Regular people will bring in cans, and they might have aluminum wheels, or different types of aluminum because they were tearing down a building,” she said. “We weigh it up, and pay them out the best price we can give them.”

Kristi said the pay outs are based on what type of metal they’re buying.

Additional items Atmore Recycling takes includes cars, batteries, copper wire and any type of metal.

Kristi said when the scrap metal comes in, they’ll sell it to big steel mills.

Matt is a fourth generation scrap metal recycler as his father was in the business as well.
