Local power crews respond to Texas, Louisiana

Two local power companies sent crews to Texas and Louisiana for power restoration in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.
Alabama Power and Southern Pine Electric Cooperative sent crews to assist in the effort.
The Alabama Power crew ewnt to Beaumont, Texas, while teh Southern Pine crew traveled to DeRidder, La.
According to the Alabama News Center website, some 350 Alabama Power team members from across the state, including line crews and support personnel, packed up Wednesday afternoon in preparation for traveling west to support utilities in Louisiana and Texas.
“We are fortunate to be able to provide resources to help others, considering the potential impact this very dangerous storm could have on a very large area,” said Kristie Barton, a general manager in the company’s Power Delivery organization.
