An Atmore man was arrested this morning on an attempted murder warrant at an undisclosed location in Baldwin County, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said in a release that Amirr Raheem English, 21, was served the warrant, and will be transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

Brooks said the warrant stems from a call that the APD received on Sept. 11, at approximately 2:17 p.m.

“The Atmore Police Department was notified of several gunshots being fired near the intersection of Robinson Street and Maxwell Street,” Brooks said. “APD officers arrived on scene to discover numerous bullet shell casings in the roadway. APD officers also learned that a male victim had been shot. The victim was transported to Atmore Community Hospital by a private vehicle.”

Brooks then said witnesses at the scene described two males exiting a blue van and began firing toward a crowd of people.

“After discharging numerous rounds, the suspects fled the scene,” he said. “APD Investigators arrived on scene and began processing the scene and speaking to witnesses.”

Brooks said on Sept. 12, today, APD investigators along with the Bay Minette Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, served an attempted murder warrant at an undisclosed location in Baldwin County on English.

Brooks said the APD is continuing to investigate the case, and expects more arrests forthcoming.
