Escambia County throttles Monroe Co. 35-6
EA tops Tuscaloosa Academy 28-13
Escambia County throttled Monroe County 35-6 in a delayed homecoming contest Friday night in Atmore.
The Blue Devils led MCHS 21-0 at halftime.
Head football coach Scott Mason said late in the game, the team got tired because of the late start, and it was homecoming. The game didn’t kick off until around 8:30 p.m. because the officials didn’t arrive until shortly before hand.
“With everything said, and what we’ve been through so far, I’m proud of them,” Mason said. “We’ve got to get better.”
With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 2-3 on the season with a road trip to Vigor next Thursday in Mobile at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
In other area action, Escambia Academy defeated Tuscaloosa Academy 28-13 on the road.
Bubba Nettles scored two touchdowns, and Landon Sims and Daughtry McGhee added one score each for the Cougars in the win.
EA hosts Northview, Fla. next Friday night.
