COVID-19: ECHA reports 944 confirmed cases

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Dec. 1 that there have been 944 reported cases of COVID-19 out of its two hospitals.
The latest is an increase of 34 cases since Nov. 24.
According to a release, 652 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 292 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.
At ACH, 3,244 specimens have been collected, 2,526 have been negative with 21 pending and 45 inconclusive.
At DWM, 1,549 specimens have been collected with 1,220 negative results, 11 pending and 26 inconclusive.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 2,023 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Six-hundred-and-eighty-one specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-one people have died in the county.
The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.
Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
