COVID-19: ECHA reports 1,074 cases from hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced that that 1,074 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.
The latest is an increase of seven cases since Dec. 15.
According to a release, 727 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 347 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton. Since Dec. 15, there have been no additional cases reported at ACH.
At ACH, 3,501 specimens have been collected, 2,689 have been negative with 39 pending and 46 inconclusive.
At DWM, 1,694 specimens have been collected with 1,311 negative results, eight pending and 28 inconclusive.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 2,333 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 869 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-three people have died in the county.
The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.
Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
