EA to stagger 2nd semester start

Escambia Academy officials announced Jan. 2 students will return to school on a staggered schedule because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Headmaster Hugh Fountain said the staggered schedule start for the second semester will be used as preation and a way to account for any virus cases they may not know about.

Fountain said all teachers and staff are to report on Mon., Jan. 4, at 8 a.m. for a workday.

In school instruction will begin on Jan. 5 with only the elementary school in session.

The other grades staggered schedule is the following:

• 6th and 7th grade – return on Wednesday, January 6

• 8th and 9th grades – return on Thursday, January 7

• 10th – 12th grades – return on Friday, January 8

Fountain said those students who missed a first semester test, he/she should return to school for the make-up test at the following times/dates:

• 1st period makeup- Tuesday 8am

• 4th period makeup – Tuesday 10am

• 2nd period makeup – Wednesday 8am

• 5th period makeup – Wednesday 10am

• 3rd period makeup – Thursday 8am

• 6th period makeup – Thursday 10am
