COVID-19: ECHA releases latest case report

118 cases reported since Dec. 22, 2020
The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Jan. 5 that that 1,248 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.
The latest is an increase of 118 cases since Dec. 22, 2020.
According to a release, 845 cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 403 from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.
At ACH, 3,785 specimens have been collected, 2,883 have been negative with nine pending and 48 inconclusive.
At DWM, 1,877 specimens have been collected with 1,417 negative results, 29 pending and 30 inconclusive.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 2,819 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 606 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days. Thirty-four people have died in the county.
The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.
Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
