Victory Professional Development Center opened its newest location in Atmore Feb. 12 in the downtown shopping center on Church Street.
VPDC is a drug and alcohol free training center that offers CPR training, phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant training, certified medical assistant training, EKG training, medication assistant training, pharmacy techniciann training, medcial billing and medical coding training and dual enrollment classes.
CPR and First Aid Instructor Leo Campbell said they’ve been in business since 2015.
“My wife (CEO Dr. Suporior Campbell) then taught at Bishop State in nursing for over 15 years,” Campbell said. “She wanted to go back into teaching, and I asked her, ‘what does that mean?’”
Campbell said she was working at Mobile Infirmary as a nurse practitioner and it would mean she’d have to quit her job to start a school.
“So, I said, ‘OK, we’ll pray over this,’” he said. “And we did, and God gave us the peace to do this. We opened our doors in 2016.”
Victory’s first location and headquarters are in Mobile on Downtowner Loop. Eventually, locations in Mt. Vernon and Jackson (three) were established, along with classes at Bishop State Commuinty College.
In 2022, a new location wil be opening in the first quarter in Biloxi, Miss., Campbell said.
Campbell said there are 20 staff members who they call family that make up the fabric of VPDC.
“We’re excited to be in Atmore,” Suporior said. “I’m a semi-Atmore native, and I’m excited to be back home.”
