COVID-19: ECHA reports 1,563 cases from hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,563 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

This is an increase of five cases since the Feb. 16 report.

According to a release, 947 (+1) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 616 (+4) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton.

At ACH, 4,271 specimens have been collected, 3,274 have been negative with two pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 3,662 specimens have been collected with 3,009 negative results, five pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,726 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,307 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Sixty (+2) people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.

With the COVID-19 vaccines being distributed, the ECHA reports through the ADPH that 581,317 doses have been administered. More than 990,000 doses have been delivered to Alabama.
