Alice Avon Klopfenstein, 96, was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She left this world to be in the arms of Jesus on Feb. 20, 2021.
Alice was born to Clyde and Pearl Divine on May 30, 1924 in Teagarden, Ind. She was No. nine of 10 children who passed before her and are lovingly remembered, Lillian, Frank, Glenna, Gail, Jeanette, Wayne, Earl, Paul and Evelyn.
Alice was introduced to her husband, Lester Klopfenstein by some friends in 1943 and were married in 1944. They were happily married 54 years. They had three children, Larry (Sandy) of Pennsylvania, Marcia (Bob) of Alabama and Mary Jo (Bob) of Missouri.
Alice also had nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved them all and never forgot a birthday.
Alice lived most of her life in South Bend, Ind., where she was very involved in Calvary Temple now called Southgate Church. She taught many children in those 40-plus years. She also sang in a trio with her sister, Jeanette and a dear friend. There were many things she enjoyed after being with family, gardening, canning, sewing and playing games. After her children were in school, she worked at Enro Shirt Co and Raco.
In 2000, Alice moved to Alabama to enjoy warmer weather and be closer to family. Alice always exemplified a life that loved Jesus and she will be missed greatly.
A visitation is scheduled at Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN this Sat., March 6, at 2 p.m. and funeral to follow at 3 p.m.
