David Edward “Peter” Watford, 77, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 25, 2021.

Watford was born in Atmore on May 9, 1943 to Carl and Audrey Watford. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1971.  He later went on to graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a civil engineer degree in 1982.

Watford worked as a roads and traffic engineer for the city of Atlanta until he retired in 2009.

Watford enjoyed traveling, reading and watching western movies, especially anything with John Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donny Watford, Billy Watford and Kathy Gaffney.

He is survived by his wife, Gaile Watford; sons, Taft (Kristen) Brown and David (Kristen) Watford; daughter, Missy (Jason) Palcic; and grandchildren, Ansley, Cooper, Perry Campbell, Reese, John David, Madison, Thatcher and Gena.

Burial of ashes will occur next Fri., March 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Huxford Community of Christ, 926 Burlington Street, Huxford, AL 36502.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
