COVID: ECHA reports 3 additional cases since March 12

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced March 16 that 1,575 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

This is an increase of three cases since the March 12 report.

According to a release, 955 (plus one) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 620 (plus two) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,420 specimens have been collected, 3,417 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 3,838 specimens have been collected with 3,186 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,828 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,049 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-three people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
