Law Day slated for May 6-7

Escambia County Law Day is slated to held next Thursday and Friday, May 6-7, at the county courthouse in Brewton.

Law Day is an annual event where students learn about the judicial system, and serve as jurors for an actual court case with consequences for the defendants.

Seniors from Escambia County High School, Escambia Academy and Atmore Christian School will attend on May 6. Seniors from T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal, Flomaton and Cornerstone Christian will attend on May 7.

The trial slated for May 6 is a driving under the influence case. The state of Alabama will be represented by Escambia County District Attorney Steve Billy.

Godon B. Godwin is the attorney for the defendant.

As of press time Wednesday, the case for the May 7 jury wasn’t released.
