Flash flood watch issued for area

A flash flood watch is in effect for Escambia County, Ala. and portions of Escambia County, Fla. from this evening through Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the NWS, an organized complex of strong to severe storms will spread southeast across southwest and south central Alabama and the western Florida panhandle this evening. Timing on the map reflects the passage of the main line of severe storms likely capable of damaging winds of 70 mph or higher, large hail and a few tornadoes.
Another round of showers and thunderstorms will develop late tonight into Wednesday morning. A moist and unstable airmass will be in place across the region through Wednesday morning and showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing torrential rainfall in a short period of time. Storm total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with localized totals of at least 6 to 8 inches will be possible.
Torrential rains over saturated ground will bring an increased threat of flash flooding.
