Kudos goes out to the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce and volunteers who helped make Mayfest 2021 a success.

Last Saturday, a lot of people turned out for the annual festival at Tom Byrne Park. Between 80-85 vendors showed up with their wears and there was plenty of things to do and eat.

Chamber officials were busy throughout the entire day, coordinating the Beautiful Baby Contest and the Miss Mayfest pageant, along with many other responsibilities.

Late in the afternoon as I took a break under the chamber tent, I took a moment and looked around.

There wasn’t a frown an anybody’s face. I believe that’s because they were enjoying being outside on a beautiful day.

Let me say something about the weather. The weather was perfect.

Two years ago, weather shortened Mayfest when a rain storm came through, and nary a drop was felt all day last weekend. And the temperatures were perfect, to boot.

My day ended with taking some photos of the Main Street Atmore Derby event at the Atmore Country Club.

I, of course, wasn’t dressed for the occassion, but those attending made me feel welcome.

After a quick run to the store, my day was complete and as I was headed home, I couldn’t help but smile because a lot of folks had a good day at the festival and derby event.
