ECHA reports 2 additional COVID cases from hospitals in latest report

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today that 1,611 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of two cases since the May 4 report.

According to a release, 971 (plus one) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 640 (plus one) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,708 specimens have been collected, 3,689 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,137 specimens have been collected with 3,464 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 3,932 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,009 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Seventy-six (plus one) people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
