City OKs HIV drive-thru test clinic

The Atmore City Council on May 24 approved the use of the farmer’s market for an HIV drive up testing event slated for late June.

Rhonda McCorvey with Medical Advocacy and Outreach (MOA) said the drive up testing event will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thurs., June 24.

McCorvey, a HIV tester and specialist, said since the pandemic hit, the cases of HIV went up. At present, there are 25 patients in Atmore, she said.

“We’re a very private clinic,” McCorvey said, adding that MOA has offices in Montgomery, Dothan and Selma.

McCorvey said June is also National HIV Testing Month.
