The Atmore City Council adopted a resolution to replace existing cameras downtown with new ones during its meeting on Monday.

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said during a previous workshop, a discussion was held about replacing the existing cameras downtown.

“The cameras will be at different locations throughout downtown,” Brooks said. “This is coming from the city of Mobile Gulf Coast Technology Center.”

Brooks said between 10-14 cameras will be replaced.

Additionally, Mayor Jim Staff said the sign ordinance, which went into place several years ago, will be like it used to be.

Staff said those who are wishing to put up banners are going to need a permit to put a sign up and the building inspector will issue the permit.
