COVID-19: 11 new cases since June 22 report

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced June 29 that 1,663 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of 11 cases since the June 22 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.

According to a release, 977 (plus two) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 686 (plus nine) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 4,875 specimens have been collected, 3,849 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,526 specimens have been collected with 3,802 negative results, one pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 4,034 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 748 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Eighty people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
