ECHCA: 54 new COVID cases reported since July 20

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced July 27 that 1,744 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.

The latest number is an increase of 54 cases since the July 20 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.

According to a release, 1,005 (plus 18) cases have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 739 (plus 36) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update.

At ACH, 5,014 specimens have been collected, 3,959 have been negative with zero pending and 48 inconclusive.

At DWM, 4,848 specimens have been collected with 4,068 negative results, zero pending and 32 inconclusive.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 4,252 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County. Some 1,214 specimens have been collected over the last 14 days.

Eighty-two people have died in the county.

The numbers are updated biweekly to help reflect current case numbers from the ECHA. Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differe from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.

Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
