Hurricane Ida: ECSS to announce school closure decision Sunday
Escambia County Schools Superintendent John Knott said today that the system will announce any decision to close schools because of Hurricane Ida tomorrow.
Knott said the announcement will be announced at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Sun., Aug. 29.
“We are closely monitoring the forecast for Hurricane Ida and the potential impacts for our area,” Knott said in a statement. “Currently, the hurricane is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Louisiana Coast Sunday into Monday. We will continue to monitor and communicate with the Escambia County EMA, National Weather Service, law enforcement and state agencies concerning projected weather conditions.”
