When Northview’s varsity volleyball squad falls behind during a match, the Lady Chiefs don’t panic.
In fact, they embrace the challenge.
The Lady Chiefs have stuck to that mantra so far this season. As of Sept. 13, NHS sits at 3-1 overall on the season.
NHS didn’t have any games last week, but is in a slate of important games. The Lady Chiefs played Pine Forest on Sept. 13, Baker, Fla. on Tuesday, and then faces Jay, Fla. on the road tomorrow night.
Head coach Ashley Salter said the girls have played well defensively.
“We’re still working to grow offensively,” Salter said. “They’ve never been much of a come back team, but lately when down, they’ve worked hard to come back. They’ve had more heart this year.
“They have a realization that this is it,” she added. “It’s just a great group of girls to work with. They’re so talented.”
Salter said there are eight seniors and three juniors on the varsity squad.
The seniors are Neveah Brown, Payton Gilchrist, Mia Starns, Kinzey Powell, Grayson James, Cassie Davis, Taylor Levins and Kayla Dixon. The juniors are Alyssa Stabler, Hadassah Mascaro and Elianna Morales.
