The Atmore Police Department has a person of interest stemming from several burglary and entering of vehicles in the Forest Hill Drive area on Sept. 18, officials said.
Chief Chuck Brooks said Tuesday that several complainants called in and said their vehicles had been entered and items taken on Saturday.
Brooks said items consisted of electronics, coin money, some prescription pills and purses.
“The APD does have a person of interest,” he said. “Some of the items mentioned have been recovered, and warrants have been issued for one of the people responsible, however, he’s not in custody at this time.”
Brooks said the person of interest’s name will not be revealed until they are in custody, and there are more than one persons of interest in the case.
“We just encourage people to lock their vehicles even though they’re in their driveway,” he said, adding to be sure to secure all valuables. “We’re aggressively investigating, and we’re looking for that one person of interest. We recovered the property, which lead us to the information we have.”
