City approves 2021-22 operational budget

City of Atmore employees will receive a 5 percent pay raise after the city council adopted the 2021-22 operating budget Monday night.
The pay raise has been awarded to city employees for three years in a row, Mayor Jim Staff confirmed.
In other business, the council:
• approved the Escambia County High School parade request permit. The parade will be held on Fri., Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. beginning at the soccer fields behind the YMCA. Classes who would like to enter a float should contact ECHS at 368-9181 by Fri., Oct. 8 to be added to the line-up;
• adopted resolution 2021-20 for an airport improvement grant application. The application is through the Alabama Department of Transportation, and includes five new hangars and jet fuel; and,
• approved a grass and weed nuisance ordinance. Letters will be sent to residences and signs will be placed in yards, Staff said.
