COVID: 36 inmates, staff test positive at Fountain, Holman in latest report

Thirty-six inmates and staff members from Fountain and Holman Correctional Facilities have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC).
The ADOC issues its COVID reports every Tuesday with new information from the previous week, from Monday through Friday. The ADOC has a dashboard at http://www.doc.alabama.gov/covid19news.
According to the ADOC, 17 inmates have tested positive at Fountain, and six at Holman.
Seven staff members tested positive at Fountain with six testing postive at Holman.
Newly identified positive case(s) may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. All existing quarantine protocols held in-place or newly implemented as recommended by the ADOC’s contracted State Medical Director are being maintained at each facility where newly identified positive inmate(s) are currently housed.
A total of two thousand four hundred twenty-eight (2,428) cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed among our inmate population throughout the course of the pandemic, two hundred fifteen (215) of which currently are active.
A total of one thousand five hundred twenty-five (1,525) cases of COVID-19 have been self-reported by staff members throughout the course of the pandemic, two hundred thirty-six (236) of which currently are active.
The ADOC offers COVID-19 vaccines to all staff members who wish to get vaccinated. The ADOC has confirmed that no additional employees have been vaccinated through the Department.
A total of eight hundred eighty-two (882) staff members have been vaccinated through the Department. The Department does not report the number of staff who have been vaccinated through a community provider.
